Not a week has passed by since the first official nightly shockingly! appeared on CM repositories for Samsung Galaxy Ace. This was indeed with compliance with earlier reports that official CM 7.2 was confirmed for Ace & will release with the global schedule.
The Cyanogenmod 7.2 Official is finally making its way to Samsung Galaxy Ace. The final stable version release will coincide with the global official release of CM 7.2 for more than 69 devices.
There might be some bugs, so inexperienced users and those who would like a finished product might want to keep away.
So without further ado.. Here we go:
Download Links:
- CyanogenMod RC1 build: Official | Mirror (Mediafire)
- GAPPS GB 20120116 – Market 3.4.4
- cm-blackhawk-kernel.zip (Overclock Kernel)
- If you aren’t already on Gingerbread (2.3.x), do so. (Tutorial)
- Install CWM Recovery 5. (CWM 4 might work) (Tutorial)
- While in CWM Recovery, do the following:
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe cache partition
- Wipe dalvik cache
- In CWM Recovery, choose
Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > update-cm-7-20120312 NIGHTLY-cooper-signed.zip > yes. Install. - Reboot system!!
Note: First boot may take 2-5 minutes. - Install Google Apps:
- Choose Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > gapps-gb-20120116-237-signed.zip > yes. Install
- Reboot!
- Install Kernel with Overclock capability
- Choose Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > cm-blackhawk-kernel.zip > yes. Install
- Reboot!
And Done! Now you are up and working. Steps 6 & 7 are optional.
Note: Without step 6, you will lack basic google apps on your phone. They cannot be included in CM builds due to google objection.
Without step 7, you won’t be able to change CPU frequency.
Bugs:
- Yet to be reported (Report at code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/)
This is THE news people have been waiting for. Not only after the final version release, not only the users will have a definite version to install but the devs will also be able to use it as a base for a custom ROM.

hey i have a rooted galaxy ace 2.3.6 and got cm7 and am planing to flash it but ..so my question is after flashing can i go back to my stock rom that is ddkq8 but using restore option from cwm recovery version 5 that i have installed …..and made a back up
My GPS doesnt work, plus how do i revert back to factory rom and unroot. Help would be appreciated.
Follow the upgrading by ODIN tutorial. Choose a firwmare for your region in that. You will get unrooted stock ROM.
I want to keep the rom, but my navigation doesnt work. it just says detecting GPS

Hi,
I am from Delhi (India). i am using MTNL sim card. whenever i insert my sim card in my phone. I starts restarting automatically. Is it the problem with my sim card or is there anything in CM7 that is blocking my sim card or is not detecting my sim card. It is working with any other card except MTNL (Delhi) sim card…
isn’t MTNL CDMA?
No, It is a GSM SIM.
Not sure what the problem is mate. Have you tried another MTNL sim? Go to the nearest mtnl outlet to do so.
my mtnl 3g sim also does not work with cm 7.2.. it restarts all the time
This shouldnt be the case in Gapps. I will look into it.
In the meantime just search for Gapps and you will get the remaining.

Is it stable and will all basic apps work?
yes.
If I take a backup before flashing CM 7, later go back to 2.3.6 firmware, restoring the backup will make my phone the same way it was before flashing?
i fashed the GAPPS zip file and i got only google search , voice search , latitude.
i did not get gmail , google maps or youtube .
Thanks a lot dude!
So I will follow your instructions now. I’ll hope it works for me 🙂
So everything works just perfect. Thx Dude!!
proximity sensor doesn’t work
And the “sensor & Gps” patch couldn’t help with problem

3g does not work… please help. i wanted to keep it….
Then this roms does not for you… please its not for every day use! but this question???… please!… the 3g does not work because you haven’t configured right (read properly the CM propierties and diferences of stock roms), it’s not stock rom, it hasn’t option to confugure automatically from simcard so I suggest you to go on a service center and ask for config on APN (but maybe they notice that yo rooted the phone and losses your warranty) or… leave CM without 3G meanwhile you learn how to restore your APN by yourself.
Anybody knows if the proximity sensor bug from the previous nightly has been fixed?
It was the only thing that stopped me from using it on a daily basis as it’s very annoying to have a call and your ear is tapping every thing while you talk…
Answer to self: Still not working, gonna have to wait till official release, hoping they will fix it till then…
More details here:
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4862
if you flash the blackhawk kernel and the “gps and sensors fix” from @lagloose in XDA developers you wil have sensors working, thw RC1 “as is” is sooooooo updates in comparision of the unnoficials you have to wait until CM team solves the bugs.
what all apps are there in google apps?will it include samsung apps like memo, allshare, email, gmail, maps, etc or will it only include apps made by google?
Thanks
Samsung apps are not included.
Google Apps = Google Apps no other trademark on name…
Hi my galaxy ace has not been rooted yet so please can you tell me the procedure about how to install CM7.2 to my galaxy ace running gingerbread 2.3.4 and touchwiz 3.0, please tell each and every step so that i don’t mess things up and is this 7.2 the final stable version? are they having any bugs?
Search in XDA for CWM Recovery 5.0.2., download it, then download CM 7.2 RC1, and put those files in your sd card wothout folders, direct on Sd, then you need to go on recovery mode in the phone (turn off the phone then power it on with a combo button of “power+home” buttons pressed at same time, you will enter to recovery mode), then select “install zip update form sdcard” then you choose the CWM Recovery 5.0.2 and select it, then you turn off again your phone and enter again in Recoverymode, then you will notice that the menu has changed that’s CWM recovery 5.0.2, then select “wipe data&factory reset” then “wipe cache partititon” then “install zip from sd” then “select zip manually” then go and select “CM 7.2 RC1 file” and select “yes”… wait until the phone reboot alone! It may take between 5-10 minutes, then you’re done! you have CM7.2 on Ace
CM7.2 make root automatically your phone when install dont worry about it
